A Journey From Covert Narcotics Operations to Investigative Leadership

I retired in 2023 after more than 26 years with the California Highway Patrol (CHP). During my career, I worked as an officer and sergeant in the Bay Area, Central Valley, and along the coast of California. In addition to investigating traffic accidents and general crimes as a patrol officer, I spent several years working on various investigative assignments. These assignments gave me invaluable investigative experience and expertise not commonly found in law enforcement or private investigations.

As a narcotics agent assigned to a county drug task force, I spent hundreds of hours doing covert surveillance, interviewing suspects, and handling informants. I became skilled at identifying and locating suspects who wanted to remain off the radar of law enforcement. This expertise later helped me become an investigative services unit supervisor, and I was placed in charge of a multi-agency vehicle theft task force. I approved and participated in surveillance, use of informants, and warrant services. In addition to the vehicle theft operations, I conducted sensitive internal investigations involving the use of force, officer-involved shootings, and employee misconduct, including EEO/Sexual Harassment.

Because of my prior education in engineering and mechanics, I was naturally competent at investigating traffic accidents. Early on in my career, I was recognized for my attention to detail and ability to interpret the evidence to determine causation. My expertise in accident investigation continued to grow throughout my career, and I was assigned to the CHP Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team in Fresno, CA. Commonly referred to as MAIT, these accident reconstruction teams investigate high-profile traffic accidents and assist with officer-involved shootings and death investigations.

I was trusted to investigate some of the most sensitive circumstances a police department can encounter. Now, I want to use my expertise and skills to serve as a private investigator. Integrity was the cornerstone of my career, and it is now the foundation of Jackson Analysis & Investigations LLC.
